My name is Christopher Barnette. I am a professional web developer based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, where I not only earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems, but also met my gorgeous and wonderful wife Rochelle. After completing college, I moved to Baton Rouge, got married, and landed my current job.
I love music, books, and theology. Between Rochelle and myself, I think our collection of books and movies will soon consume all available space in our apartment. I love period movies and historical fiction, especially WWII settings. I love music and enjoy many different genres including: Blues, Bluegrass, Southern Rock, Smooth Jazz, Classical, and last but not least Worship and Hymns. I spend a lot of time reading theology books by the likes of J.I. Packer, C.S. Lewis, C.H. Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards, and many others.
I am a dedicated and active Christian. In theological terms, I am what most would consider a Calvinist. This name is slightly misleading though because I do not necessarily agree with nor endorse all of John Calvin’s theological or ecclesiastical stances. My stance on baptism, sacraments, and church government places me most reliably within the Southern Baptist denomination. My stance on most issues of the faith perhaps line up best with men like Dr. Al Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and C.H. Spurgeon, the 19th century English Particular Baptist evangelist. Considering these variables, the name most fitting for my position would be Reformed Baptist, which denotes my dedication to the reformed theology commonly referred to as the “doctrines of grace” and my Southern Baptist views concerning church organization and practice.
Rochelle and I are members of Foster Road Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. For anyone who is searching for a Reformed Baptist church in your area, you can find resources to help you, here, here, and here.
This blog is my outlet to discuss my observations on any subject that I find interesting or informative. I also utilize this as a platform for religous instruction and apologetics. I welcome all of you to participate in any discussion that inspires you.
